Here is a picture of one of the top makers of the last century, the incredibly gifted Emile Auguste Ouchard. Any player lucky enough to own one of his bows from his best period is indeed a happy violinist.

He was (in common with Sartory and Voirin) a strong-willed man well aware of his capabilities, He made for the very best musicians during his lifetime and his order book was littered with the great and famous.

It is interesting to note that despite spending many years living in America he learnt only the most basic of English.

A genius maker I would recommend violinists to search out one of his rare bows and learn from using it!
