Charles Peccatte is the son of Francois and the nephew of Dominique, his father died when he was five and his step father Auguste Lenoble was his first teacher regarding making later followed by Voirin at the Vuillaume workshop. It is interesting to note Charles also had a friendship with both Joseph Lamy and Eugene Sartory, both of whom influenced him after the turn of the century. Dated around 1915 this is a late example with a strikingly beautiful head. The bow is a commission sale and the owner informs me that the frog and button are not to this bow, by a different hand but from the same period. The stick is very clean indeed, a lovely late example from this first class maker.
Dating the stick is very straightforward in that the stamp used on this by is the first stamp, used for a few years then discarded until around 1914 when it reappears, used until the end of his life.
