Eugene Sartory circa 1900 SOLD! enjoy your bow Catherine!

I am delighted to be able to offer a rare early example of clearly the foremost maker of the twentieth century. I have sold many bows by this maker, after a while it becomes clear precisely which era to buy from a playing perspective.

As you can see the images show the bow before restoration, the bow shall be ready early autumn.

Damage occurred very early on with this bow, making the original frog and button amongst the best in existence.

As can be seen, this bow, despite damage, was kept for many years, the old owner has passed away recently and so our workshop shall fulfil his dream.

Note the early dimensions and moulding on the button dating this bow to the 1895-1900 era.

The owner kept the bow in an outhouse in rural France, the mould is not of any concern, it brings to mind a Persoit that arrived in a similar condition, underneath it was mint!

Broken in half very early on Peter hembrough bows has a long record of using a diamond shaped pernambuco repair, utterly secure and also bringing back into use an important bow by this truly great maker. It is an unusual break, on the underside of the stick there was a knot, this weaken this area and strangely it was broken by downward pressure to the stick, a very rare type of break.

As you can see after restoration the bow appears as it would upon leaving the Sartory workshop. All parts and areas are original with the exception of the small central pernambuco diamond insert, measuring about seven centimetres it is difficult to see and from a small distance is imperceptible. Even the pearl on all areas is original.

This era Sartory is very highly prized, in retail terms when they are available they tend to be around the £40,000/£60,000 area, so this bow is a rare and lovely opportunity to own a great bow in near mint condition from this highly prized era.
