No collection is complete without a first class Vigneron pere bow. This exceptional bow is in ways an exercise in lateral thinking for the violinist. It has a very minor repair near the head secured by a nylon sleeve.
The handle (where you hold the bow) is a newer piece of wood spliced in under the lapping although from the lapping onwards it is a Vigneron as are the mounts and button. Indeed the frog and button are in first class condition.
At extraordinary expense a correct stamp from another Vigneron bow has been inserted into the new handle.
All these things have been done for one very important reason. It is by some distance the best Vigneron pere stick I have ever seen, an exceptional maker, this is a truly wonderful playing bow and I felt it was my duty to do the best I could regarding restoration.
Highest price realised in auction for this maker is $28,312 in 2007.
