Joseph Henry 1860

Here is a truly wonderful bow by Joseph Henry complete with a certificate from Jean-Francois Raffin. Sadly, over the years it has sustained a fair bit of damage, making the bow financially more viable for a violinist on a limited budget. Having said that, from a playing point of view it is sensational imbued with a remarkable balance in the hand when being used.

The head has been very skilfully replaced, indeed so skilfully done it is hard to find. Also it has at some point sustained damage just after the lapping as there is a minute wooden pin about 1mm in diameter.

The button is from the same era but is probably not by Henry. The frog, although it has a cheval repair is by Henry and glorious. A dream bow made affordable through generations of hard use because it is so good!
